Bruce J. Sumlin, MD is a graduate of Duke University and earned his medical degree from University of Illinois in Chicago. He completed an internship at Howard University Hospital in Washington D.C. as well as an ophthalmology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.
He has advanced fellowship training from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and was the recipient of the Allan E. Kolker, MD glaucoma fellowship at Washington University. Dr. Sumlin has an outstanding record of training new ophthalmologists as senior faculty at Henry Ford Hospital, Drexel University, and Hahnemann Hospital.
Dr. Sumlin is a board-certified ophthalmologist having performed more that 15,000 cataract and glaucoma surgeries in addition to thousands of Lasik procedures. His special interests include refractive surgery (Lasik, PRK, etc.) cataract, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
He relocated to Delaware in 2008 to enjoy the state’s coastal temperate climate. In his free time he enjoys boating, tennis, biking, football, basketball, traveling, music, and the Fine Arts.
